Sage is an herb with pale green, fuzzy leaves. The taste is savory, bitter, and pine-like. Sage is believed to have a variety of medicinal properties.
Look for signs of wilting. The leaves should not be too droopy. Wrap in a paper towel in the refrigerator for up to five days. Cover them with oil and they’ll last a whole month.
Wash and dry before use. If you’re feeling festive, cook whole sage leaves around a roast turkey. Saute with butternut squash to round out the flavor. Or mince the sage and roll into sausage for breakfast!
