A pomelo is a large citrus fruit. Many other citrus fruits have derived from pomelos.
Pomelos should be heavy for their size. It should not have any soft spots or bruising. When ripe, the fruit should give off a subtle fragrance. Ripe pomelos can be stored in the fridge for up to a week.
Removed the rind and the membrane. Remove the inner spongy part of the pomelo as well. If the pomelo is sour, it is best used as an addition to dressing or squeezed over something. Sweet pomelos can be used as a replacement for oranges in a salad.
