Pineapple

Pineapples are highly acidic, sweet fruit found in tropical Pacific based islands.

Quality Check

Look for a hint of yellow on the exterior, the more yellow a pineapple, the more ripe (and therefore sweeter) it is. A ripe pineapple is a bit soft when you squeeze it. Last thing to check, smell it! Turn the pineapple over and give it a smell, as a rule of thumb avoid fruits that smell like vinegar.

Preparation

Pineapple is great raw or cooked. Be sure to cut off all of the spikes and the firmer center. Pineapple is also great grilled or baked!
