Passion fruit is a sweet fruit. They have lots of berry-like structures inside that have seeds.
Choose passion fruit that are large for their size. It should feel heavy and plump. The shells should be a deep purple with a few wrinkles. Avoid smooth skinned and overly hard fruit. To store, take the fruit out of the shell and place in plastic containers. It can then be frozen for up to three months.
Passion fruit should be halved. You can then scoop out the flesh with a spoon and eat. The seeds are edible. Because the flesh is tart, some people sprinkle sugar on it before eating.
