Oranges are round citrus fruits with a fragrant orange peel, orange flesh and a whitish pulp. They are the must cultivated fruit in the world. They taste sweet, acidic, and slightly sour.
Oranges should be firm. Check for greasy fungus spots. Oranges can last as long as a month bagged in the refrigerator. They can also sit at room temperature for about a week.
Rinse the orange. You should be able to peel by hand for a snack. Slice any way you prefer, with or without peel. The bitter white pulp is edible. Orange skin can be grated into zest. Toss in a salad with wild rice and peanuts, or squeeze into juice!
