Lemons are elliptic citrus fruits, yellow from the inside out, sweet and sour to the taste. Lemons have cute little nodes on both ends. Their acidity is so high it can even be used in cleaning!
Go for bigger, firmer lemons. You’ll find less juice in lemons with bumpy skin and a spongy feeling. Lemons remain fresh up to a week at room temperature, two to three weeks in a refrigerator.
Wash before cutting. The skin is edible and makes for a great zest if you grate it! Some people enjoy sucking on lemons. They can be used in lemon bars and lemon meringue pie. Squirt their juice on a meat dish for extra zest!
