Kumquats are a small citrus fruit. The skin is sweet. It is native to south Asia.
Good kumquats should have a deep color and be firm. Avoid any that are soft or that have signs of decay. Keep kumquats in a sealed plastic bag in the fridge.
Kumquats should be washed first. They can then be eaten whole. However, the flesh is quite tart so most people will eat around the flesh by nibbling on the skin. You can also make candied kumquats to make full use of the fruit.
