Iceberg lettuce is a leafy vegetable with crisp, mild flavor.
Choose a head with dark green outer leaves. They should be intact. The lettuce should feel firm, but springy. Avoid any overly large heads as they could be tough. If you would like to store it, remove the core of the lettuce. Wrap the leaves in paper towels and place them in a plastic bin in the fridge.
Iceberg lettuce is well known. You can use it for salads to add a nice bit of crunch or use it a sandwich. Because the leaves are so firm they can also be used in grilling. You can also use it as a base for wet dishes.
