Guavas are a tropical fruit. They are dense and taste like a mixture of strawberries and pears.
Look for yellowish guavas. Ideally, they should have a touch of pink as that indicates it is prime. Avoid any that show spotting or signs of decay. To store them, place them in a ziploc bag and leave them in the crisper.
Guavas are great on their own. You can also cook them and mix them with cream cheese for a filling. Additionally, guavas do very well in juices and smoothies as they as a nice texture. Guavas can also be used to make jellies or candies.
