Corn was originally cultivated in Mexico thousands of years ago. It is a very common staple food and has a sweet taste when eaten from the cob.
When picking ears of corn make sure that the green husk is free of tiny brown holes near the top. Pick it up and feel for plump kernels. Finally, the strands near the top should be brown and sticky. If they are very dry make sure to avoid that ear. To store it, wrap it tightly in plastic and stick it in the fridge. Corn should be eaten within 3 days.
Corn can be eaten on the cob by boiling. It’ll come out with a sweet taste. It can also be ground into flour to make tortillas or you can use it to make cornbread.
