Collard Greens

Collard greens or collards are a leafy vegetable with a taste similar to kale.

Quality Check

Choose green leaves with no blemishes. Make sure the leaves are not wilted to ensure that they are fresh. Collards can be placed in a ziplock bag and stored in the fridge. It can stay in the fridge for up to 5 days.

Preparation

Make sure you wash the collards. Submerge them in water and then wash. Allow to dry. Collard greens is a very traditional southern dish. Smoke the collards with ham hocks, turkey, or pork neck bones to extract their flavor. They make a hearty dish for the new year!
