Probably a genetic hybrid between garden tomatoes and small wild tomatoes, cherry tomatoes can be as big as a thumbnail or the size of a golf ball. They come in red, green, yellow, orange and purple varieties.
As you would with all tomatoes, inspect the skin for signs of bruising, and avoid any punctured tomatoes. The color should be deep and rich, and if you can, buying them on the vine is always better!
Toss them whole into a salad, roast them with olive oil and orange juice, or dry them for a easy and portable snack.
