Blood oranges get their name from the color of their flesh. The ruby red color reminds people of blood. Don’t let the name fool you though, blood oranges are delicious with a juicy flesh that can have a subtle taste of raspberries.
Always select blood oranges on their size. Choose the ones that feel heaviest relative to their weight. The skin color is irrelevant; it could be orange with green tints, or fully orange. It does not matter.
