Bartlett pears are the most commonly grown pear outside of Asia. It is also called the Williams pear. It has a sweet, buttery flavor.
Bartlett pears ripen from the inside. Check the top of the pear to see if it is ripe; it should be slightly soft when pressed. Pears can be ripened by leaving them at room temperature. If you want to store them, place them in the fridge.
Bartletts are very juicy, so they taste great when eaten from the hand. They can be sliced and put in a salad or even baked for a warm treat. You can also turn them into a smoothie.
